About

CADRE Value-Added Initiatives

Over the past 10 years, CADRE has become associated with rudimental excellence – both in Canada and internationally.

As in all things, communication is essential for growth. It’s important to create consistent, clear messages.

The following outline was developed to provide a current, accurate awareness of what CADRE is, what CADRE stands for, and what CADRE Services are available to Members.

Organization

CADRE is organized very simply:

  • Fred Johnson is the Founder and President of CADRE. His role is to provide strategic direction for CADRE and tactical assistance to Members - upon request.
  • Orton Beaumont is the CADRE Treasurer

CADRE Membership is made up of:

  1. Heritage Hands Drum Clubs
    a. Independent, affiliated groups of rudimental drummers
  2. Associate Members
    a. No club affiliations, but who support CADRE's goals and initiatives

The CADRE Experience – “What’s in it for me?”

No organization can be all-things-to-all-people and CADRE cannot be all-things-to-all-drummers.

CADRE is essentially a “grass-roots” organization where people "receive" in proportion to what they "put in".

A drummer’s personal CADRE Experience is the by-product of his or her commitment – coupled with the cumulative energy of all the Members in a local club.

It is mainly the CADRE Members themselves who manage projects and provide assistance to one another.

The rich array of CADRE Value-Added programs and services - described later in this article - are a response to, and by-product of these local initiatives and requirements.

Most CADRE drummers thrive in their Heritage Hands Drum Clubs and work hard to maintain quality drumming environments.

CADRE does 3 things well. It provides:

  1. A local drum-club framework for rudimental drummers “looking for a place to drum” – at whatever level of drumming they choose
  2. Value-added programs & services
  3. A dynamic forum of ideas for all those with an interest in rudimental drumming

Goals & Objectives

Local Clubs determine their own goals, objectives, programs and levels of participation.

CADRE Goal

Provide a structure of communication and camaraderie for the national community of Canadian rudimental drummers.

CADRE Objectives

  1. Preserve, document, revitalize and pursue the technology of precision, rudimental drumming.
  2. Provide access to documented rudimental drumming material for the personal enjoyment and advancement of its membership.
  3. Showcase and preserve Canadian contributions to rudimental development and excellence.
  4. Establish and maintain relationships with international drum manufacturers, drumming organizations, high school and university percussion programs.
