As in 2006, CADRE has again won the 2007 DCA Percussion Ensemble Championship.

Thanks to everyone directly involved for your time, energy and talent in helping achieve our 2007 goal of winning this coveted title.

Special thanks go to Fred Johnson for his unwavering support and keen insight helping tune our performances and to Peter Mason for managing all on-site administrative requirements - plus photographic services (mid-afternoon ‘till after midnight). Both of you provided an increased layer of productivity that was welcome indeed.

Additionally, our drumming arrangements feature selections by several world-class authours i.e. Fred Johnson, John Flowers, Gerry Hemsley and Doug Kleinhans. It’s always a pleasure working with you and receiving your insightful feedback.

Congratulations also to Nathan McLaren for his impressive 2nd place finish in the DCA Individual snare competition. This was Nathan’s first DCA appearance. He succeeded in placing ahead of many distinguished, individual drummers. Nathan, your excellent standing was well-deserved and brings additional honour and prestige to CADRE. We all wish you every success in your new teaching assignment in Oman!

Our Rope Drum Ensemble (new drummers; new music in 2007) had a respectable, first public performance by placing 2nd to the NYPD Rope Drummers (Doug Kleinhans' fine group).

Our appreciation and respect go to all units at this year's DCA I&E for their outstanding performances.  It's an honour to be able to compete in such a talented milieu and to count many of the competitors among our closest drumming friends.   

It was also great to see family and friends - both old & new - at this year's DCA I&E.  Thank you for taking the time to stop-by and say hello.  Your support and friendship at DCA I&E are invaluable and make all of our efforts worthwhile.

Finally, thanks to all friends-of-CADRE who provide support and 'lend us a hand' throughout the year in so many ways.  Your friendship is what keeps us going; we never take you for granted.

On many occasions – particularly after last year’s Championship – we’ve communicated that we drum not just for ourselves.

We drum and compete for all CADRE members and the greater Canadian rudimental drumming community.

We hope that all CADRE members consider this as their 2nd victory… their 2nd championship… because it is!

All of us in the CADRE Rudimental Percussion Ensemble are pleased to have been able to capture this additional, honour for the men and women of CADRE.
