Congratulations to the Organizing Committee Members of DCAT (Drum Corps
Associates, Toronto) who, as before, did an outstanding job of putting together
another quality weekend for those who marched in senior drum corps.
It’s a privilege
to perform in front of a G.A.S. audience; always energetic and appreciative!
This year, CADRE participated in three ways:
Fred Johnson and John Flowers assembled a massed, rope drum ensemble consisting
of eleven snare drummers and two bass drummers representing both CADRE and the
APRDC (American Patriots Rudimental Drum Club). Their high-level performance
was well-received – in particular, Bill Boerner who wore his tricorn hat
and was Lead Drummer in ‘Devil’s Flute’!
There were 24
groups participating in the G.A.S. Talent Show. The Can/Am
GAS Ensemble included Pete Mosley on drumset. Pete did a great job!
New York Skyliners’ world-class drum duet of Joe Fontana and Jack Murray
displayed their incredible repertoire – a repertoire that has been consistently
excellent over the years.
The CADRE Drum
Ensemble featured both rope-tension and rod-tension drums. Their
performances were also acknowledged enthusiastically by the audience. Many
friends came by later to comment positively on the CADRE Drum Ensemble.
Finally, CADRE
placed a full-page ad in the G.A.S. program and Paul Mosley placed a ¼ page
personal ad as well.
It was a great G.A.S. Reunion and a great day for both participants and spectators
alike!
